Forklift Refresher Courses are a must for any safety-conscious organization who wants to keep their workers up to date. Like any other machinery used in your workplace as you update your equipment, you should also provide forklift and order picker refresher training for your operators.

The need for periodic re-assessment of forklift and order picker operators to ensure the safety of operation is clearly established throughout the industry and the guidance provided by experienced training companies concerning the need for employers to provide their operators with current forklift and order picker refresher training on a regular basis.

In regards to forklift or order picker refresher training. 'It is our view that employers should continuously monitor the performance of their operators to ascertain whether they might need refresher training (typical indicators are regular near misses, accidents or consistently unsafe working practices).

Refresher Training should always be carried out following an unsafe incident whilst operating forklift trucks (or other workplace transport) before the operator is permitted to restart using that piece of equipment.

As it is recognized that even if there is not an incident, there can be a decline in skills (particularly if the equipment is only used infrequently) then refresher training should be carried out at periodic intervals to ensure safety in operation.

The frequency of refresher training must reflect the operational risks that exist in different applications, but it is unlikely that any operation using forklift trucks can afford to go more than two years between refresher training yearly would be more preferable. For particularly hazardous operations, yearly refresher training and retesting should be strongly considered.

As a free service to you, when you book with us, we could send you a reminder every year for all operators from your company who are due for refresher assessments. This should help with the ongoing review of your operators' skills.
